‘High-End’ Appliqued Rayon Crepe-De-Chine Nightgown by Kristina Sz- 36+ (#984)
This is one of the best nightgowns that we’ve ever seen in the rayon crepe-de-chine fabric! Richard purchased this gown at a recent vintage clothing show in New York City, and was completely entranced by the beauty of this gown! Like the (nearby) “Over-The-Top” Yolande silk nightgown, this beauty occupies a special place in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie.
The gown shows no traces of previous wear, so we believe the gown has never-before been worn. Even the Kristina label shows no fraying at the edges. There are no flaws that we could find….. not even a solitary pinhole or “age” spot!
The rayon crepe-de-chine fabric looks and feels almost the same as silk crepe-de-chine lingerie made in the 1930s….. just a bit heavier, and a bit more “durable”! With considerate wear and care, the gown should last the lifetime of the fortunate buyer.
Tiny satin “leafs” (not “embroidery”) are grouped in the appliqués seen on the bodice and skirt of the gown. A delicate “scalloping” stitch enhances the front neckline and the front of the armholes. And just as in the Yolande gown, the long seams are “French-seamed” by hand. Again as in the Yolande, the bodice seams are finished with an overcasting stitch by hand.
Once you “slither” into this exotic nightgown, you may never want to take it off! More info on this gown will be posted soon, meanwhile, if you have questions, or want additional pictures, just let us know!
