We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are committed to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality possible. While we sometimes find the occasional new/old stock piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This nightgown has been professionally photographed for Desire Smith’s now-available ‘Irresistible’ book on vintage lingerie. For some strange reason, the “book” photos – on page 34 - show the back side facing forward on ‘Gloria’! This gown is in wonderful condition for its age, and has only a couple of tiny thin places in the back. The gown has been carefully hand-laundered, and there are no stains or soiled places.
The gown features a bodice of the most delicate lace, and has silk “leaves’ on top of each shoulder.
The French silk crepe-de-chine fabric is absolutely the best of its kind… far better than of today’s imported or domestic silks! The “Madelon New York – Paris” label is stitched inside the back neckline.
On our 5’ - 10” Gloria model, the gown drapes 57 inches to just even with her ankles. The bust measures 32-plus inches all the way around, and the waist measures 31 inches. (No waist seam.) The prospective buyer should ensure that her own body measurements are slightly less.
This most-charming nightgown is eminently wearable by today’s modern woman, but should be reserved for the most special occasions. Be Irresistible!
