This wonderful silk satin nightgown dates from the late-1940s, (about 1948), and is one of the most glamorous nightgowns that we’ve ever seen! By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring these pieces – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
Mere words cannot describe the incredible beauty of this superb nightgown! The back is as beautiful as the front – making exits just as impressive as entrances! Like the gown itself, the “mermaid” label is so pristine, it seems like the gown was made just yesterday! Note especially the blue silk ribbon which peeks through the lace bodice all the way around. The gown has wonderful proportions, ranging from a size 36 all-lace bodice, and draping down 62 inches to the ‘full-sweep’ hem. The ‘sweep’ (circumference) of the hem is an impressive 124 inches!
The Fischer “mermaid” label is located in the center-back bodice, and can be seen through the lace. The nightgown is in mint - unworn condition with no flaws that we could find. On our 5’ – 10” ‘Gloria’ model, the gown goes all the way to her toes. As always, the stated measurements are those of the garment itself.
