This pretty silk slip dates from the mid-1940s, and is one of a select group of Fischer beauties in our New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This slip is one of the most popular of the many fabulous Fischer designs, and it features adjustable shoulder straps and delicate lace trim. The lace trim goes all the way around the back, and would look just perfect under a sheer summer blouse! The slip is in excellent condition, with just one teeny-tiny pinhole near a side seam. The previous owner had the hem lace detached – shortened the slip, and the hem lace was expertly re-attached. The unique “Mermaid” label is placed under the left armhole, and we read the bust measurement up to 36-plus inches.
With the strap sliders located on top of Gloria’s shoulders, the slip skims to just 3 inches below mid-knee. The stated measurements are those of the slip itself, and your own body measurements should be less.
This slip is so pretty, that if you dare, it could also be worn by itself as a sexy summer dress, or flared out over a pair of tight-fitting jeans!
