We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This wonderful early 20th Century night dress appears to have been worn very-little – if at all. The lace is in perfect condition, the silk ribbons have not deteriorated, and the five tiny silk flowers are not flattened. There are no flaws that we could find in the silk fabric… there are no holes, and only the faintest of a faint waterspot in the skirt. The gown is a tiny-bit wrinkled, but this is to be expected of a delicate silk stored away for over 100 years!
A gentle hand-laundering will take care of the wrinkles, and will also get rid of the almost-invisible waterspot.
On our 5’ -10” ’Gloria’ model, the lace-trimmed hem ended just above her ankles. As in almost all lingerie from the 1920s and earlier, this piece was cut to hang loosely from the shoulders, and drape straight to the hem. There is a detachable silk ribbon waist tie, but we think the gown looks just fine without the tie. Note the lace pocket over the right hip… Beautiful!
The gown is not only beautiful to look at, but worn with care, it is eminently wearable by today’s modern woman! We offer this as a wonderful night dress that will be a joy to the fortunate buyer. It is ready to wear and fit for a Star – YOU – the Leading Star of your own life!
