This dreamy robe and nightgown ensemble dates from the mid-1940s, and it has never been worn. We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece – like this one, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This 2-piece robe and nightgown set is a wonderful example of a ‘war-years’ lingerie piece that that has slipped unscathed through the cracks of time! The fabric looks and feels the same on both sides. Turn the nightgown inside-out, and you’ll find no difference in the feel or the looks of the fabric!
This set features matching lace in both pieces. The robe is closed with a large satin ribbon. The ribbon runs through a casing in the front waist, but passes on the inside of the back of the robe. This allows the robe to billow out to its full circumference of 80 inches!
Our ‘Gloria’ model stands 5’ – 10”, and measures 33 inches around her bust. This Du Benay- tagged set is indicated as a “34”, but it fits Gloria with a few extra inches to spare. The robe can be closed at the centre front, or it can be left open.
Although made about 70 years ago, this set is in wonderful condition for today’s modern woman!
