This wonderful silk negligée was custom-made in the mid-1930s. This beauty has a most unusual design, and it is listed in both the Bridal Trousseau and the Richard’s Collection categories.
We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty
There are no labels or size tags in this negligée, as it was obviously created to order for the original owner. The garment was cut with some very-intricate seaming, and features a V-shaped sheer cotton net insertion at the bottom front. The back is about 5 inches longer than the front, (a small “train” here), and has long, diagonal V-seams above and below the buttocks level. The sides consist of 3-inch wide panels of self fabric.
The garment was constructed with great care, and all of the seams are overcast by hand. There is no puckering along any of the seam lines. Given the 75 years of age, we are truly amazed at the wonderful condition of this gown! We found no stains and no holes, and a small and faint waterspot will be removed prior to sale.
On our 5’ – 10” ‘Gloria’ model, the gown falls almost to the floor in back. This gown is destined to be owned by you - the Star of your own Boudoir!
