(SOLD) Hollywood Glam! Ca. 30s ‘Trained’ Silk Charmeuse Bias Nightgown Sz 36+ (#1469)
This most-glamorous 1930s silk nightgown has a ‘trained’ back skirt, and is one of the most beautiful nightgowns that we have ever seen! This beauty is listed in both the Bridal Trousseau and the Richard’s Collection categories.
We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty
There are no labels or size tags in this beauty, as this garment was obviously made to be just a one-of-a-kind nightgown for one special person! The silk charmeuse fabric is among the softest that we’ve ever seen, and it is also very “biasy”! The stated crosswise measurements were taken without any stretch of the garment. With moderate stretch, we get up to 38 inches all the way around the chest/bust! Anyone size 34 or 36 will find this gown a perfect fit for her figure – with the gown hugging her curves from the empire waist on down!
We note that the gown is about six inches longer in back than it is in the front. The gown will “train” behind you as you walk! The softest lace frames the low-cut neckline, and enhances the deeply-cut armholes. Triple silk straps support the gown on the shoulders, and there are self-fabric waist ties to form a pretty bow in back.
On our 5’ – 10” ‘Gloria’ model, the gown falls to the floor in back. This would have been the perfect gown for Jean Harlow – if only that late actress had not been only five feet and three inches tall!
