This rayon nightgown dates from the late-1940s, (before the WW-2 years), and is one of the “slipperiest” bias-cut nightgowns in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie! This gown is listed in both the Nightgowns and Bridal Trousseau categories. Click one of the nine 'Gloria' models to visit our unique boutiques!
We at Silver Screen Loungerie, endeavor to offer vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This un-labeled nightgown conjures up visions of the slinky Hollywood movie starlets in the 1930s and 40s! The size tag is too faint to read, but we measured a snug 38 inches from “pit-to-pit”. Just be sure that your own body measurements are slightly less than the stated measurements.
The rayon charmeuse fabric is very bright and slippery, and is one of the most “vampish” gowns that we’ve ever had! There is simply no lingerie fabric on today’s market that can compare with the rayons of the 1930s and 40s!
The gown features a lace-trimmed Vee neckline, with similar lace edging the cap-sleeved armholes. The bust cups have gathered fabric which will accommodate up to at least a “D” cup in a size 36 bra. (The measuring tape does go to a snug 38 inches.) This gown is in excellent condition, and the pinked seam allowances show little wear by the original owner. There are no stains and no holes.
On our 5’ – 11” in-house ‘Gloria’ model, the gown falls to well below her ankles. The gown will be a wonderful ‘present’ to yourself, the fortunate buyer, and the STAR of your own Life!
