Adorable Appliqués! Half-Circle Bias-Cut Rayon Nightgown ~ Sz- 34-plus (#1450)

We at Silver Screen Loungerie, endeavor to offer vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This gown has been photographed for inclusion in ‘”Irresistible”, author Desire Smith’s now-available book on vintage lingerie. The gown is shown on facing pages 46 and 47 of this book, and is styled the same as four other “book” gowns on this site. The gown is one of a special group of half circle-skirted gowns, all of them sharing a wide midriff panel extending into very-long and wide waist ties. The sweep of the skirt’s hem is 164 inches! The maker’s Lady Duff and the Du Rand (Louisville store) labels are sewn inside the back neckline.
The gown features five colourful floral appliqués which are edge-stitched to the surface of the gown. The gown has been hand-laundered, but the appliqués are as bright as they originally were. The gown is tagged as a “34”, but with armholes that are open to the waist, a bust size of 36 inches could be accommodated. The seams near the sides of the waist have been reinforced, and we measured an exact 28 inches all around the waist area.
On our “in-house” ‘Gloria’ model, the hem goes almost to her ankles. The gown is definitely goddess-quality… just perfect for YOU, the Goddess of your own Boudoir Life!
