This sheer silk chiffon nightgown dates from the late 1930s, and is done in a most eye-catching “fuchsia” colour! It is one of Richard’s select group of “knockout” beauties in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie. You will find this treasure in both the Nightgowns and Richard’s Collection departments. We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous or original owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This nightgown has no maker’s label, as it is obviously a one-of-kind garment... with a fantastic design and colour never seen anywhere else! The fabric is that very-thin, “cobwebby” type of silk chiffon… a fabric that is almost non-existent in today’s market. This gown also features very-long “scarves” – which begin at the front neckline, and end anywhere you want them to end! The 14 inches wide “scarves” are 50 inches long, and can encircle the body in a number of different ways. We prefer the way the scarves are draped softly over the shoulders, and then brought around to loop together in front. (There are thread loops at the sides, with a left-side snap closure.) The skirt is asymmetrically seamed in back, and extends irregularly to Gloria’s ankles.
The gown is in very-good condition with a tiny hole on the right shoulder – which is covered by the long scarf. There are also faint underarn spots... we will remove them prior to sale.
This filmy nightgown is ready to wear and fit for a Siren – YOU – the Siren of your own Life!
