Irresistible Lady Duff! 1930s Rayon Semi-Sheer Bias-Cut Nightgown Sz, 34-36 (#1427)

We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional new/old stock piece, most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, vintage means old, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original condition.
This gown was purchased by Richard in 2005 from a vintage lingerie dealer-friend in California. It has been photographed for inclusion in author Desire Smith’s now-available book on vintage lingerie. The name of the book is “Irresistible”, and the gown is shown on page 51 of this book.
The nightgown has a sweeping, half-circle skirt, and the fabric is a semi-sheer rayon georgette. The gown is accented with a satin neckline and large satin midriff piece. The midriff panel extends into very-long and wide waist ties. The maker’s label is Lady Duff. Lady Duff (Gordon) was a real person, and along with her husband, she was a rescued passenger from the Titanic steamship sinking in 1912.
Aside from minor fuzz on the pinked seam allowances, the gown is in excellent condition with no stains and no holes. On our in-house Gloria model, the gown drops 65 inches almost to the floor.
