This beautifully crafted silk slip is one of the sleekest that we’ve ever seen from the early 1930s! It is a most-rare piece of vintage lingerie, and it is in excellent condition. This is one of Richard’s fabulous silks, and it comes from his New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie. On “SSL”, the slip is listed in the Bridal Trousseau and Slips categories. We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been gently worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
We found no label in this slip, but the garment was obviously made to the higher standards of 1930’s dressmaking. The slip is quite long, even for the 1930s, and it runs to the lower calf on our ‘Gloria’ in-house model. (The shoulder strap sliders are set to the top of Gloria’s shoulders.) At 33-plus inches around the bust, and 22 inches around the waist, this is a figure-hugging, very-provocative-looking slip! Please be certain that your own body measurements are no larger than the measurements of the slip.
The silk charmeuse fabric is the best of its kind, and careful hand-laundering has only enhanced its glow and suppleness. Large lace appliqués adorn the top front of the slip, and partially conceal the sharply-diagonal seams in the bodice. The hem is trimmed with lace of the same colour and pattern.
With considerate wear and care, this beautiful slip should last the lifetime of the fortunate buyer!
Additional pictures of the slip are available, and we would be happy to send them on request.
