This beautiful rayon slip was made during the 1940s war years, and it’s one of our very-rare ‘new/old stock’ pieces. The slip is located in our New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie, and you will find it displayed in the Slips and Plus-Size Pretties categories. We at Silver Screen Loungerie, offeri vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, (like this one), most of our items have been gently worn by just one previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring items, as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This slip still has it’s original “Petal Blush” hang tag, and the luscious rayon crepe-de-chine fabric was made by Burlington Mills. The reverse side of the tag gives care instructions. (“Should be washed by hand.” – “Can be ironed damp or dry with a cool iron”.) This slip is one of the “dressiest” that we’ve ever had, and would work beautifully under a sheer white blouse or dress. The slip also bears the “Strainless” label, and the “40” (bust size) checks out with our own measurements. This is one of the typical “war years” slips, where lengths were somewhat below the knee. On our 5’ – 11” ‘Gloria’ model, the hem goes down to Gloria’s mid-calf… about 50 inches long. On this slip there are adjusting “sliders” for the self-fabric shoulder straps. The bodice and hem are comprised of easy-to-care-for nylon lace, with embroidered silvery leaves on a sheer strip forming a “V” in the middle.
Whether worn under a dressing gown or under a sheer dress, the slip will be a joy to YOU, the fortunate buyer and the Showoff Lady of your own Life!
