While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
This marvelous chemise-teddy is in mint condition, and may actually have never been worn. Aside for a faint soil smudge on the left hip, no other stains or pinholes were found in this garment. Amazing condition, considering that this piece was made about 90 years ago! For certain, this chemise is a one-of-a-kind display piece…. obviously custom-made using the finest materials and trims. Both the unique lace and silk crepe-de-chine fabric are in mint condition…. far better than the same fabrics found in today’s market. We have no name for this kind of lace – which comprises most of the bodice, and the 6-inches deep hem flounce.
This is a step-in style teddy, with four snaps securing the overlapping back closure. The armholes are open almost to the waistline, thus accommodating a range of bust sizes. (We estimate sizes 32s to 40s will be comfortable in this garment.) The waist is max at 30 inches.
We rarely see these old pieces in such immaculate condition, but this is one of the best! This teddy is destined to be worn by a Star…. the Star that insists on only the best for her Boudoir Life!
