This is one of the most beautiful nightgowns we’ve ever seen – let alone, owned, and it’s in a rosy-pink silk crepe-de-chine fabric! The gown is in excellent condition, and is housed in our New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie. You will find it listed here in the Bridal Trousseau and Richard’s Collection categories. Click on one of our 'Gloria' models to explore our special boutiques!
We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are dedicated to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, (like this one!), most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible, to their original beauty.
The silk crepe-de-chine fabric is the most luxurious of this silk “weave” that we’ve ever had! Experienced dealers have seen and handled this gown in New York shows, and their comments have been like, “Where did you ever find this beauty!” Our reply is rather evasive at best! There are no labels, but we personally feel that this nightgown was made in France.
Outside of a small and faint “smudge” in the bottom skirt, the gown has no other stains or holes that we could find. (The smudge will be laundered out before the gown is sold.)
We note the five box pleats which start at the midriff, and release extra fabric over the hips. The bodice is comprised of delicate lace panels… two of them seem to float out over the shoulders. The attached waist ties are unevenly long, and are bow-tied at the right side.
On our 5’ – 11” ‘Gloria’ model, the gown drapes to just below her ankles. (61 inches) We are very excited about this gown… which is among the most beautiful of the 1930s. It is also one of the most beautiful gowns in the Year 2011!
