One of the prettiest nightgowns from the mid-1930s, this is really what 1930s vintage lingerie is all about! This gown is one of Richard’s Collection fabulous treasures, and you’ll find it listed in the Nightgowns and Bridal Trousseau categories. Click on one of the 'Gloria' models to find our special boutiques!
We at Silver Screen Loungerie, are committed to offering vintage lingerie items of the highest quality possible. While we sometimes find the occasional “new/old stock” piece, most of our items have been either gently or moderately worn by a previous owner. By definition, “vintage” means “old”, and we take great care in restoring the items – as much as possible – to their original beauty.
This nightgown has no maker’s label, but it still has the original size 38 tag. We believe the gown was custom-made, and it appears to have never been worn. There are no flaws that we could find, although the side seams were taken in by one size, and in just the bodice area. This was an expertly-done alteration, and the (now) size 36+ gown drapes beautifully on our size 33 ‘Gloria’ model.
The silk charmeuse-satin fabric is of the highest quality… far better than any silk found in today’s market. The upper part of the bodice is made from a pin-tucked silk chiffon fabric, and a large floral-satin appliqué caps off the design of this exceptionally beautiful nightgown!
On our final inspection we noted super-faint storage-specks near the hem of the gown. (Can’t be seen from the satin side.) As the gown has never been laundered, we await the buyer’s request to launder the gown before shipping. This My Fair Lady nightgown is as ready to wear as it originally was, and is fit for a Star – YOU – the “Fair Lady” of your Life!
