‘Mode O Day’! Vintage 40s ‘Gently-Worn’ 4-Gore Rayon Dress Slip (Lg 42)
This slinky rayon slip is one of a group of large size slips that are in near-mint condition! They are being listed, one-by-one, in both the “Slips” and “Richard’s Collection” categories. Click on one of the 'Gloria' models to explore our special Boutiques!
Miss ‘Mode O Day’ is a “4-gore” (4 panels) style….. especially great when worn under a sheer vintage 40s blouse! The center-front and center-back “gores” (panels) are cut on the straight-of-grain, while the side panels are bias-cut. This helps prevent the slip from “riding up” while sitting down.
The “Mode O Day” label is clear and unfrayed…. indicating the near-mint condition of the slip itself. The fabric is the most luminous and yummy rayon crepe-de-chine that we’ve ever seen. There are no stains and/or tears, and the pinked seam allowances are as sharp as they originally were. The original owner hemmed up the slip, but we let it out back to its full (48”) length. After laundering, you simply can’t see the old stitching line, except when held up to a strong light.
The slip has so much lace in it, that it’s ideal as a “show-off” under your sheerest dresses. ….Or wear it “solo” just to swan about in your home!
