Bullock’s Beauty! Ca. 30s Silk Crepe De Chine-Jacquard Bias Nightgown Bust- 44+ (#1120)

This wonderful nightgown dates from the early 1930s, and is among our most-rare silk nightgowns in the New Jersey ‘HQ’ of Silver Screen Loungerie! It is in fabulous condition for its age, with no flaws that we could find. You will find this beauty in both the “Bridal Trousseau” and “Richard’s Collection” departments. Click on one of the 'Gloria' models to explore our special Boutiques!

The gown bears the famous & familiar “Bullock’s – Los Angeles” store label, and the label reflects the excellent condition that the gown is in! The gown is beautifully-made, and has French seams on the sides. There is no “crosswise” waist seam, and the fabric flows in an unbroken line from shoulder to hem. As the entire gown is cut on the bias, you’ll find the expected triangular fabric insertions at the hem.

The fabric is basically a silk crepe-de-chine, and it has satin floral figures woven into the fabric. The upper part of the gown is beautifully finished with blue-coloured embroidery. There are many lines of inverted V-shaped “drawnwork”, and satin-edged punchwork is much in evidence. Even the waist ties have blue-threaded embroidery at their ends.

This is a long and “statuesque” kind of gown, with a 62-inch length that is almost to the floor. It’s a true goddess nightgown, and it’s ready to wear and fit for a star – YOU – the leading lady of your life!
